National Maritime Center (NMC) Evals
The Navy's National Maritime Center (NMC) exams, administered by the US Coast Guard, are for obtaining Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC).
Throughout his tour, CAPT Clare provided superior senior level leadership and direction to 350 combined civilian, military and contractor staff at the NMC and 17 geographically separated exam centers. His dynamic and insightful leadership provided direction and energy that resulted in significant improvements to key areas. During his tenure, this staff processed over 500,000 applications, issuing over 229,000 mariner credentials and 221,000 medical certificates, conducted over 185,000 criminal background checks, proctored over 42,0000 exams, issued 12,500 course approvals and responded to 1.1 million customer inquiries. In doing so, the NMC ensured the professional qualification, training, education, safety and suitability of over 200,000 U.S. mariners, 3,400 training providers and 7 maritime academies.
