AS SENIOR NAVIGATOR INSTRUCTOR, CHIEF SIMPSON'S LEADERSHIP AND EXPERIENCE WERE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THE 99% LCAC NAVIGATOR GRADUATION RATE. HIS EXPERIENCE AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN QUALIFYING 66 LCAC STUDENTS IN LITTORAL AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE OPERATIONS IN ONE OF THE NAVY'S MOST CHALLENGING COURSES. PETTY OFFICER KENNEDY CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HIS STEADFAST DETERMINATION WAS INSTRUMENTAL TO THE SAFETY OF THE PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT BEING TRANSPORTED AND THE SUCCESS OF AMPHIBIOUS OPERATIONS ON OMAHA BEACH. HE WAS ALSO ESSENTIAL TO THE OUTFITTING, EMBARKATION, AND DEBARKATION OF 70 SAILORS AND MARINES DURING THE ASSAULT. PETTY OFFICER KENNEDY'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONAL ABILITY, INITIATIVE, AND LOYAL DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY.

PETTY OFFICER TOMASETTI'S CRAFT KNOWLEDGE RESULTED IN TWO CRAFT COMPLETING 23 MISSIONS TRANSPORTING MORE THAN FIVE THOUSAND TONS OF ROLLING STOCK IN SUPPORT OF USS AMERICA ARG AND 15TH MEU DEPLOYMENT TO THE 3RD, 5TH, 6TH, AND 7TH FLEET AORS. HE WAS INTEGRAL IN ENSURING 12 LCAC CREW MEMBERS WERE 100% QUALIFIED AND PROFICIENT IN THEIR POSITONS. MOREOVER, HE MENTORED 34 SAILORS AND WAS A KEY FACTOR IN SIX ESWS REQUALIFICATIONS, 14 ESWS QUALIFICATIONS, AND SIX EIWS QUALIFICATIONS. FURTHER, HIS STERLING EXAMPLE LED TO ONE SOQ, TWO JSOQ, AND ONE USS SAN DIEGO SAILOR OF THE WEEK RECOGNITION. PETTY OFFICER TOMASETTI'S DISTINCTIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE, AND STEADFAST DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
