OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS STAFF DUTY OFFICER (SDO) OF THE WATCH. ON MAY 10, 2014, PETTY OFFICER ZULU DISPLAYED HEROIC LEADERSHIP WHICH RESULTED IN SAVING THE LIFE OF A FELLOW SAILOR. WHILE ON DUTY, PETTY OFFICER ZULU WAS ALERTED TO THE MEDICAL DISTRESS OF A FELLOW SAILOR. HE DISREGARDED THE SHIPMATE'S REQUEST TO FIND A RIDE TO THE HOSPITAL AND INSTEAD CALLED FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TO BE DISPATCHED TO THE SCENE. UPON ARRIVAL OF THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL TEAM, THE SHIPMATE WENT INTO ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK, RESULTING IN THE COMPLETE CLOSURE OF THE AIRWAY. HIS SUPERIOR DECISION MAKING ABILITY AND QUICK ACTION SAVED THE LIFE OF A VITAL MEMBER OF THE COMMAND. PETTY OFFICER ZULU'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE AND DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HER DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS STAFF DUTY OFFICER OF THE WATCH. AS STAFF DUTY OFFICER, AT3 JOHNSON WAS PERFORMING HER FIRE SECURITY ROUNDS AND INSPECTING THE SPACES WHEN SHE IDENTIFIED SMOKE COMING FROM THE GENERATOR TEST BENCH ROOM IN WORK CENTER 620. SHE IMMEDIATELY ACTIVATED THE EMERGENCY SHUT OFF BUTTON, ALERTED THE ASDO TO EVACUATE THE BUILDING, AND NOTIFIED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. IN ADDITION, SHE PROVIDED ACCESS TO THE FIRE FIGHTERS AND GUIDED THEM TO THE FIRE'S LOCATION. HER REMARKABLE VIGILANCE, IMMEDIATE REACTION, AND EFFECTIVE RESPONSE PREVENTED A MAJOR FIRE FROM DESTROYING THE ENTIRE FACILITY. BY HER EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE, AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY, PETTY OFFICER JOHNSON REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HERSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES AS STAFF DUTY OFFICER (SDO). DURING THIS PERIOD, LT BRAVO SELFLESSLY RISKED HIS LIFE TO EXTINGUISH THE RAGING COFFEE POT BURNER THAT THE SKIPPER STUPIDLY LEFT ON. ON THE 3RD OF JULY, 2018, AT APPROXIMATELY 2010Z, THE TF124 VQ4 SDO WAS NOTIFIED OF A POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING SITUATION THAT REQUIRED IMMEDIATE ACTION TO SAVE THE TASK FORCE FROM COMPLETE AND TOTAL ANNIHILATION. LT BRAVO, WITHOUT REFERENCING A SINGLE CHECKLIST, IMMEDIATLEY SPRANG INTO ACTION, LEFT HIS ASSIGNED POST, AND RACED DOWN THE HALLWAY TO THE KEY BOX. LT BRAVO THEN OBTAINED THE KEY TO THE SKIPPER'S OFFICE AND OPENED THE LOCK TO HIS OFFICE DOOR. AFTER LOCATING THE COFFEE POT, LT BRAVO THEN TURNED THE COFFEE BURNER OFF, RISKING EXTREME DANGER TO LIFE AND LIMB IN DOING SO. LT BRAVO THEN REMAINED ON STATION TO SUPERVISE THE COFFEE POT, TO ENSURE THAT IT DIDN'T REIGNITE. LT BRAVO'S ACTIONS REFLECT GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF, THE VQ-4 SHADOWS, AND THE UNITED STATES NAVY.
