MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS A CRITICAL CARE NURSE AT U.S. NAVY MEDICINE READINESS AND TRAINING COMMAND GUAM FROM 10 JULY 2019 TO 22 JUNE 2021. DURING THIS PERIOD, LIEUTENANT HERBERT S. WALKER CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HE SERVED AS A VITAL CRITICAL CARE RESOURCE AT THE HIGHEST ACUITY INTENSIVE CARE UNIT IN NAVY MEDICINE OUTSIDE OF THE CONTIGUOUS UNITED STATES. IN ADDITION, HE IMPACTED THE REGION AS THE BASIC ELECTROCARDIOGRAM COURSE DIRECTOR, PROVIDING 2,000 CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS TO MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED MEDICAL STAFF MEMBERS, INCREASING MEDICAL READINESS AND FOSTERING PRODUCTIVE PARTNERSHIPS ON THE ISLAND OF GUAM. FURTHER, HIS POSITIVE COMMAND IMPACT WAS DEMONSTRATED BY HIS ASSIGNED DUTIES AS A PERIPHERALLY INSERTED CENTRAL CATHETER NURSE, COMMAND CODE BLUE COORDINATOR, AND CRITICAL TRANSPORT NURSE. LIEUTENANT WALKER'S PROFESSIONALISM, INITIATIVE, AND LOYAL DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HER DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS CRITICAL CARE NURSE, FLEET SURGICAL TEAM THREE, SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, FROM 12 MAY 2011 TO 29 JUNE 2014. DURING THIS PERIOD, LIEUTENANT CANDICE GALVIN PERFORMED HER DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. AS THE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT FOR WATERFRONT INPATIENT CARE, SHE WAS THE LIAISON FOR STANDARDIZING THE ICU/WARD SOP AND CRASH CART ON USS SAN DIEGO, GREEN BAY, AMERICA, AND BOXER TO ENSURE DAILY AND EMERGENCY USABILITY FOR ALL PERSONNEL. IN ADDITION, HER ASSISTANCE ON THE USS SAN DIEGO RESULTED IN IMPROVING THEIR 41 PERCENT SCORE ON THE TYPE COMMANDER ASSIST VISIT (TAV) INSPECTION TO 93 PERCENT, THE FIRST C1 STATUS FOR A NEWLY COMMISSIONED LANDING PLATFORM DOCK (LPD). MOREOVER, AS THE TRAINING OFFICER, SHE EMPHASIZED TRAINING AND PROVIDED CONSULTATION FOR FLEET FORCES PROJECTS WHICH PROVIDED CONSISTENCY IN THE DOCUMENTATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS ACROSS THE AIR AND SURFACE ATLANTIC AND PACIFIC FLEET, CONTRIBUTING TO FST-3 READINESS. LIEUTENANT GALVIN'S PROFESSIONALISM, INITIATIVE, AND LOYAL DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HERSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
