HE WAS A KEY FACTOR IN THE HIGHLY VISIBLE AND ON-TIME DECOMMISSIONING AND REMOVAL OF $500,000 WORTH OF TECHNICAL SECURITY SYSTEM EQUIPMENT FROM THE PREVIOUS NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION (NATO) FACILITY TO THE NEW NATO COMPLEX IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM. DEMONSTRATING SUPERIOR LEADERSHIP AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL, HM1 KITCHENS EXPERTLY OVERSAW THE DECOMMISSIONING OF THE MEDICAL SPACE, INCLUDING OVER 600 LINE ITEMS WORTH OVER $158,000. HIS ABILITY TO GAIN CONTROL OF MEDICAL LED TO THREE SHIPS IN NEED OF CRITICAL MEDICAL SUPPLY TO GO UNDERWAY AND BE RESUPPLIED FROM THE CHAMPION. THROUGHOUT HER CAREER, PETTY OFFICER DEY DISTINGUISHED HERSELF BY CONSISTENTLY BEING AN INTEGRAL PART TO THE SUCCESSES OF EVERY COMMAND TO WHICH SHE WAS ASSIGNED. FROM DECOMMISSIONING, PRECOMMISSIONING, SHIP-CLASS MODERNIZATIONS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN, SHE UTILIZED HER VAST PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO CONTRIBUTE TO ABOVE-AVERAGE SCORES DURING A MULTITUDE OF ASSESSMENTS ACROSS MULTIPLE PLATFORMS, WHILE SAVING THE NAVY IN EXCESS OF $200,000 IN REPAIR COSTS. REPAIR DIVISION LEADING PETTY OFFICER PETTY OFFICER GASTON LED AND DIRECTED A TEAM OF SELECTED JUNIOR REPAIR PERSONNEL TO DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT A TIME CAPSULE PROJECT FOR THE DECOMMISSIONING AND INACTIVATION CEREMONY, DURING WHICH THE TIME CAPSULE WAS PRESENTED TO THE SECRETARY OF THE NAVY, CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS AND THE ENTERPRISE COMMANDING OFFICER. THE PROJECT CONSISTED OF OVER 320 HOURS OF DESIGN DRAFTING AND CONSTRUCTION DURING OFF DUTY HOURS.
