HIS SUPPORT ENABLED THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF MORE THAN 20,000 GALLONS OF LIQUID OXYGEN AND NITROGEN IN SUPPORT OF THE SHIP'S MISSION, DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTING TO FLIGHT OPERATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, AS DIVISIONAL TRAINING PETTY OFFICER, HE EXECUTED A HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL TRAINING PROGRAM, MANAGING OVER 25,000 MAN HOURS OF NAVY AND COMMAND TRAINING, CONTRIBUTING TO INCREASED READINESS AND PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS, AND SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVING FLEET WIDE CRYOGENICS OPERATIONS FOR YEARS TO COME. MERITORIOUS SERVICE AS AUXILIARY DIVISION CHIEF PETTY OFFICER, ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76), FROM APRIL 2014 TO AUGUST 2015. DURING THIS PERIOD, CHIEF PETTY OFFICER JONAS PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HIS EXCEPTIONAL TECHNICAL EXPERTISE LED TO THE EXECUTION OF EMERGENT REPAIRS TO FIVE OF SIX AIR CONDITIONING PLANT'S MECHANICAL SEALS. IN ADDITION TO REPAIRING THE EQUIPMENT, HE IDENTIFIED AIR CONDITIONING PLANT OPERATIONAL ERRORS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPEATED FAILURES, PREVENTING REPEATED FAILURES, AND SAVING THE COMMAND A TOTAL OF $18,000 AND 400 MAN HOURS PER REPLACEMENT. HIS TIRELESS AND METICULOUS EFFORTS IMPROVED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SHIP'S AIR CONDITIONING PLANTS, A VITAL SHIPBOARD SYSTEM FOR COMBAT SYSTEMS, REACTOR, ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, AND THE COMFORT OF ALL HANDS. BY HIS NOTEWORTHY ACCOMPLISHMENTS, PERSEVERANCE, AND DEVOTION TO DUTY, CHIEF PETTY OFFICER JONAS REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS A TAD RECOVERY ASSIST, SECURE AND TRAVERSE (RAST) TECHNICIAN ONBOARD USS BULKELEY. MM2 HERBERT MADE EMERGENT REPAIRS TO USS BULKELEY PORT AND STARBOARD RSD HYDRAULIC AND NITROGEN SYSTEMS, PORT HANGAR CHAIN COMPRESSOR PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, STBD HANGER CHAIN COMPRESSOR BREAK SYSTEM, AND STBD HELO HANGER DOOR. WHILE DOING SO, MM2 TRAINED AND CERTIFIED THREE JUNIOR SAILORS AND ENSURED USS BULKELEY WAS ABLE TO MEET FUTURE AVIATION REQUIREMENTS FOR USS BULKELEY C2X. BY HIS EXCEPTIONAL ABILITY, PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND TOTAL DEDICATION TO DUTY, PETTY OFFICER HERBERT REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
PROFESSSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS GAS TURBINE SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN ABOARD LANDING CRAFT AIR CUSHION (LCAC) 80. DURING THIS PERIOD, WHEN LCAC 80 SUFFERED A MAJOR PROPULSION CASUALTY, PETTY OFFICER BRAVEHEART CONDUCTED EMERGENT REPAIRS. HE LED THREE SAILORS FOR 69 MAN HOURS IN THE TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR OF NUMBER THREE MAIN GAS TURBINE ENGINE. HIS EFFORTS RESTORED LCAC 80 TO FULL MISSION CAPABILITY IN LESS THAN 12 HOURS, ALLOWING FOR THE SAFE SHIP TO SHORE TRANSPORT OF 1.2 MILLION POUNDS OF COMBAT LOADED TROOPS AND VEHICLES FOR JOINT EXERCISE BALIKATAAN 2022. PETTY OFFICER BRAVEHEART'S LEADERSHIP, PERSONAL INITIATIVE, AND UNSWERVING DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
