Petty Officer First Class Wendell C. Javier, United States Navy, distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious service while deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and overseas contingency operations serving as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Military History Detachment, United States Forces-Afghanistan, from XXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXX. During this period, Petty Officer Javier was assigned to document the actions of units attached to Regional Command South, including Task Forces Warhorse, Viper, Arctic Wolves, Spartan, Thunder, and Odin and three Provincial Reconstruction Teams. With diligence and dedication, Petty Officer Javier contributed to a collection containing more than 120,000 historical documents including Storyboards, After Action Reports, Operation Orders, Fragmentary Orders, Oral History interviews, and other documents that will enable the Center for Military History to memorialize the story of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan. Petty Officer Javier's personal initiative and dedication to duty reflected great credit upon himself and the Military History Detachment and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
