IN ADDITION, HE WAS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HSM-48 RECEIVING AN OUTSTANDING DURING THE 2014 SAFE-TO-OPERATE INSPECTION WHILE TRANSITIONING FROM SH-60B TO MH-60R AIRCRAFT, FACILITATING A 100 PERCENT MISSION COMPLETION RATE. CHIEF PETTY OFFICER NELSON'S BOLD LEADERSHIP, METICULOUS MANAGEMENT, AND COMPLETE DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS MAINTENANCE CHIEF, GEORGIA DEPLOYMENT PROGRAM, RESOLUTE SUPPORT MISSION ROTATION 1, PARWAN PROVINCE, AFGHANISTAN, FROM AUGUST 2015 TO AUGUST 2016 IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION FREEDOM'S SENTINEL. STAFF SERGEANT JOHNSON DROVE THE PRE-DEPLOYMENT TRAINING AND DEPLOYMENT OF 15 MARINES TO BAGRAM AIRFIELD WITH NO LOSS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT. DURING THIS PERIOD HE SUPERVISED THREE MARINES AND NINE GEORGIAN MECHANICS WHO PERFORMED OVER 7,000 HOURS OF MAINTENANCE ON A GEORGIAN AND MARINE FLEET OF 120 TACTICAL VEHICLES. HIS INITIATIVE AND DEVOTION TO DUTY LED TO A COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF MAINTENANCE INDUCTION AND READINESS THAT KEPT AN AGING FLEET OF OUTSIDE THE WIRE MINE RESISTANT AMBUSH PROTECTED VEHICLES ABOVE 80% OPERATIONAL READINESS. HIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES ENABLED THE GEORGIAN BATTALION TO CONDUCT FIVE NAMED OPERATIONS WHICH HELPED ESTABLISH AND SHAPE THE AREA OF OPERATIONS OUTSIDE OF BAGRAM AIRFIELD WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY ADVISING THE GEORGIAN MAINTENANCE SHOP ON US ARMY AND CIVILIAN CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS. STAFF SERGEANT JOHNSON'S INITIATIVE, PERSEVERANCE, AND TOTAL DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS MAINTENANCE CHIEF, HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON, MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, JAPAN, FROM MARCH 2014 TO JULY 2017. CM1 MORRIS EFFECTIVELY LED 22 PERSONNEL IN THE METICULOUS MAINTENANCE OF 677 END ITEMS OF GARRISON MOBILE EQUIPMENT SUPPORTING THE MAG AND C-12 AIR OPERATIONS. AS COMMAND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY MANAGER, HE DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE COMMAND'S POSITIVE CLIMATE, KEPT THE COMMAND APPRISED ON POLICY AND PROCEDURES, COMPLETED 2 CLIMATE SURVEYS, AND SUPERVISED SEVERAL PRODUCTIVE TRAINING EVOLUTIONS. PETTY OFFICER MORRIS' OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE, AND STEADFAST DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRANDITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




THE SENIOR ENLISTED LEADER, MATERIAL CONTROL OFFICER, AND MAINTENANCE CHIEF PETTY OFFICER FROM APRIL 2013 TO MAY 2016. WHILE SERVING AS THE SENIOR ENLISTED LEADER, CHIEF SANDERSON PROVIDED SOUND COUNSEL ON PERSONNEL ISSUES AND UNIT MORALE CONCERNING 139 JUNIOR PERSONNEL TO THE OFFICER IN CHARGE AND ESTABLISHED A SAILOR'S GUIDANCE PACKAGE THAT RESULTED IN 30 PERCENT INCREASED RETENTION AND ADVANCEMENT. AS THE MATERIAL CONTROL OFFICER, HE MANAGED THREE OPTAR ACCOUNTS TOTALING $1,300,000 AND REDUCED ANNUAL EXPENDITURES THROUGH STANDARDIZATION AND UTILIZING PREVIOUSLY FUNDED ASSETS FOR A SAVINGS OF MORE THAN $200,400. AS MAINTENANCE CHIEF, HE SUCCESSFULY ORGANIZED AND COORDINATED SEVEN MAINTENANCE DETACHMENTS TO FIVE NAVY, MARINE CORP, AND AIR FORCE BASES IN SUPPORT OF JOINT MILITARY AND FLEET REPLACEMENT TRAINING EXERCISES, RESULTING IN A 50 PERCENT INCREASE IN UNIT QUALIFICATIONS AND INCREASED READINESS.
