SECURITY DEPARTMENT MILITARY WORKING DOG HANDLER AT NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA FROM OCTOBER 2010 TO AUGUST 2012. PETTY OFFICER MARTIN AND HIS MILITARY WORKING DOG, BUNNY, CONDUCTED OVER 200 HOURS OF WALKING PATROLS, OVER 4,000 SEARCHES OF BUILDINGS, VEHICLES, AND OPEN AREAS, TO INCLUDE OVER 50 BARRACKS INSPECTIONS, 100,000 POUNDS OF MAIL, 1,000,000 POUNDS OF CARGO, AND 3 VESSELS IN DISTRESS ENTERING GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA RESTRICTED WATERS, GREATLY ENHANCING THE SAFETY OF ALL PERSONNEL ABOARD NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA. AS THE PRIMARY DRUG TRAINING AIDS CUSTODIAN AND EXPLOSIVE TEAM MEMBER, HIS EFFORTS WERE VITAL IN COUNTLESS TRAINING EVOLUTIONS. IN ADDITION, AS A MEMBER OF THE SECURITY DEPARTMENT, HE VOLUNTEERED FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AND MULTIPLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DEMONSTRATIONS, ENHANCING THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF MWD CAPABILITIES. PETTY OFFICER MARTIN'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONAL ABILITY, PESONAL INITIATIVE AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.

AS THE DEPARTMENT'S LEADING CHIEF PETTY OFFICER, HIS LEADERSHIP HELPED ENSURE THE SUCCESS AND SAFETY OF NAVAL STATION JACKSONVILLE'S AIR SHOW WHICH HAD AN ATTENDANCE OF OVER 500,000 MILITARY AND CIVILIAN SPECTATORS ALONG WITH VIP GUESTS. HIS LEADERSHIP DRAMATICALLY IMPROVED OPERATIONAL READINESS CONTRIBUTING TO SEVERAL SUCCESSFUL HIGH PROFILE EVOLUTIONS BEING COMPLETED WITHOUT INCIDENT. HE EXPERTLY LED A TEAM OF 5 MILITARY WORKING DOG HANDLERS TO EARN RECOGNITION AS THE TOP RATED KENNELS IN THE SOUTHEAST REGION. REGIONAL KENNEL MASTER, NAVY REGION SOUTHEAST FROM XXXXXXXXXX TO XXXXXXXXXX. MAC GREENLY DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF THROUGH EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP WHILE MANAGING 47 MILITARY WORKING DOG TEAMS ON 11 INSTALLATIONS ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST REGION. HIS SUPERIOR TECHNICAL EXPERTISE WAS UNMATCHED WHILE OVERSEEING THE START-UP AND ESTABLISHMENT OF 4 MILITARY WORKING PROGRAMS. ADDITIONALLY, HE COORDINATED OVER 100 SECRET SERVICE EXPLOSIVE DETECTION MISSIONS PROTECTING THE PRESIDENT AND OTHER UNITED STATES VIPS DURING THEIR VISIT TO THE SOUTHEAST REGION. PETTY OFFICER LIGHTFOOT PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER, RESULTING IN HIS SELECTION AS THE 20XX NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE GROUP 2 SAILOR OF THE YEAR. HE METICULOUSLY CONDUCTED REGIONAL ASSESSMENTS ON 53 MILITARY WORKING DOGS (MWD) AND 43 SAILORS THAT PRODUCED 23 COMMAND-CERTIFIED TEAMS FOR THE REGION. ADDITIONALLY, HE SUPERVISED 32 MWD TEAMS TASKED TO A VARIETY OF MISSIONS THAT PROTECTED OUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF AND ENSURED THE SAFETY OF MILITARY AND CIVILIAN DIGNITARIES AROUND THE WORLD. PETTY OFFICER LIGHTFOOT'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONAL ABILITY, PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




AS REGIONAL KENNEL MASTER, COMMANDER NAVY REGION EUROPE, AFRICA, SOUTHWEST ASIA FROM APRIL 2015 TO FEBRUARY 2016. PETTY OFFICER ORTIZ REVIVED AND OVERHAULED THE MILITARY WORKING DOG PROGRAM AT U.S. NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY BAHRAIN. HE REMEDIATED 15 TEAMS THAT WERE DECERTIFIED IN EXPLOSIVE DETECTION AND DOG OBEDIENCE, RESULTING IN 13 RE-CERTIFICATIONS. DISPLAYING EXTENSIVE RATING KNOWLEDGE, INITIATIVE, AND OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP, HE INCORPORATED A NEW TRAINING CYCLE, RESULTING IN A 90 PERCENT COMPLETION RATE OF ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS WITH NO DISCREPANCIES. HIS EFFORTS WERE A KEY FACTOR IN BAHRAIN PASSING THE NAVAL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIVE SERVICE SECURITY TRAINING ASSESMENT AND ASSISTANCE TEAM PACIFIC ANNUAL INSPECTION. PETTY OFFICER ORTIZ'S EXCEPTIONAL ABILITY, PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




OPERATIONS CHIEF AND KENNEL MASTER AT NAVAL AIR STATION SIGONELLA, ITALY SECURITY DEPARTMENT, MILITARY WORKING DOG DIVISION FROM 10 APRIL 2011 TO 31 MAY 2014. AS KENNEL MASTER OF THE LARGEST KENNEL IN EUROPE, SHE COMPLETED TWO ANNUAL SECURITY TRAINING, ASSISTANCE, AND ASSESSMENT TEAM INSPECTIONS RESULTING IN A 97% CERTIFICATION. SHE ALSO PREPARED TEN K-9 TEAMS TO BE OPERATIONALLY READY TO MEET THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH DEPLOYING TO AFGHANISTAN, KUWAIT AND BAHRAIN. AS THE COMMAND INDIVIDUAL AUGMENTEE COORDINATOR, SHE TRACKED THE IA DEPLOYMENTS OF 34 SAILORS, MAINTAINING CONTINUOUS CONTACT WITH SAILOR AND FAMILY MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THEIR DEPLOYMENT. AS OPERATIONS CHIEF, SHE DEVELOPED AND COORDINATED A BULLETPROOF SECURITY PLAN FOR NAS SIGONELLA'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. FURTHER, HER K-9 DIVISION SWEPT THE SECURITY DEPARTMENT BLUE JACKET, JUNIOR, AND SENIOR SAILOR OF THE QUARTER, 1ST QUARTER FY13. CHIEF MIYAGI'S PROFESSIONAL ABILITY, PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HERSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
