HIS SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE ACHIEVED 100% PREVENTION OF CROSS-CONTAMINATION OF STERILE INSTRUMENTATION AND COMPLIANCE WITH PATIENT SAFETY PROTOCOLS. A STERILE PROCESSING TECHNICIAN IN SUPPORT OF 4TH MEDICAL BATTALION, COMPANY A, SAN DIEGO, CA. PETTY OFFICER SIMMONS PROFICIENTLY STERILIZED OVER $80,000 WORTH OF SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS WHICH INCLUDED MINOR SETS, BASIC MAJOR SETS, EXTREMITIES SETS, AND NEUROLOGICAL SETS WITHIN A TWO DAY PERIOD IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION EAGER LION, THE LARGEST U.S. MILITARY EXERCISE IN THE MIDDLE EAST THAT INVOLVES 1,300 SAILORS AND 900 MARINES AND 17 COUNTRIES TO IMPROVE INTEROPERABILITY WITH THE JORDANIAN ARMED FORCES. HIS PROACTIVE EFFORTS ENSURED 4TH MEDICAL BATTALION, COMPANY A REACHED A 100% SURGICAL READY STATUS A WEEK AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. PETTY OFFICER SIMMONS' MANAGERIAL ABILITY, PERSONAL INITIATIVE, AND UNSWERVING DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
HM3 Robert Paulson is most strongly recommended for the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for outstanding performance while serving as a surgical technologist on board Naval Hospital Camp Lejune (NHCL) from August 2014 to July 2018. His presence over the last four years has assisted in the training and mentorship of many young Sailors. He gained experience in all surgical services offered here at NHCL as well as expertise in central sterile processing. HM3 Paulson dedicated his time and energy to many projects around the Command such as the Corpsman ball committee, the Navy Ball committee, Operation Vigilant Fall, Veterans Day parade, and coaching little league soccer. He has never missed an opportunity to share his knowledge or his time. HM3 Paulson is an invaluable member of Naval Hospital Camp Lejune's Main Operating Room team and should be recognized for his many contributions to the mission.

-SHE COMPLETED OVER 200 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY FOR THE COMMAND AS THE LEAD ON THE PERIOPERATIVE MWR PADDLE MAKING COMMITTEE, COMPLETING DECORATIONS FOR THE COMMAND MASTER CHIEF AND MAJOR GENERAL CLARK.
DESPITE INCREASED WORKING HOURS AND DECREASED MANNING, HN HASTINGS MAINTAINED ESPRIT DE CORPS IN A DEMANDING PERIOPERATIVE ENVIRONMENT.
