HIS UNFAILING DEDICATION TO DUTY, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE FACILITATED THE PREPARATION AND TRANSMISSION OF OVER 50 MESSAGES VITAL TO THE SAFETY AND MISSION OF ONE OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY’S GREATEST ASSETS. PETTY OFFICER DAVIS' EXCEPTIONAL ABILITY, PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND TOTAL DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT WHILE SERVING AS LEADING PETTY OFFICER AND PRODUCTION PETTY OFFICER FOR 35A/67H, R4 DIVISION, IN REPAIR DEPARTMENT, ONBOARD USS EMORY S. LAND (AS-39) AND USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40) FROM OCTOBER 2015 TO JULY 2018. PETTY OFFICER DAVIDSON CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. AS 35A/67H LPO, HE LED 35 SAILORS ON TWO SEPARATE TENDERS IN COMPLETING 202 WORK PACKAGES AND ORDERING 1375 PARTS TOTALING OVER 2,300,000 DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS ON EIGHT HOME PORTED AND SIX FORWARD DEPLOYED SUBMARINES. HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE SUCCESFULL COMPLETION OF FOUR FLYAWAY TASKING EMERGENT REPAIRS TO THE USS DALLAS (SSN-700) PERISCOPE FAIRING HOIST CYLINDERS, USS ALEXANDRIA (SSN-757), THE AN/BRA-24 FLOATING WIRE ANTENNA TRANSFER ASSEMBLY, AND THE USS TOPEKA (SSN-754) SAIL CTD LEADING TO THEIR RETURN TO SEA MISSION READINESS ON TIME. AS THE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE SAIL, HE IS CONTINUALLY SOUGHT OUT TO RESEARCH AND REPAIR SUBMARINE MAST AND ANTENNA, PUSHING THE LIMITS OF FIRST TIME QUALITY. HIS ABILITY TO COORDINATE WAS DEMONSTRATED BY COORDINATING TWO TENDERS AND THREE OUTSIDE ENTITIES IN THE REMOVAL, REPAIR, AND REPLACEMENT OF THE OF THE HDR MAST AND HOIST CYLINDER IN THREE DAYS. THIS IS A JOB THAT NORMALLY REQUIRES STATESIDE REPAIR AND AT LEAST A WEEK. MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS THE SOLE LIAISON BETWEEN TRIREFFAC AND NUCLEAR REGIONAL MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT KINGS BAY FROM 13 APRIL 2009 TO 12 OCTOBER 2012. DURING THIS PERIOD, CHIEF PETTY OFFICER DERWOOD CREATED AND MAINTAINED AN AUDITABLE TRACKING PROGRAM TO MANAGE THE PROCESSING OF OVER 2100 NON-NUCLEAR TWDS PERFORMING WORK WITHIN NUCLEAR NON-NUCLEAR INTERFACE AND SSSR AREAS OF RADIOLOGICAL CONCERN, THEREBY STREAMLINING THE INVOLVEMENT OF NRMD-KB, NRMD-NORFOLK AND NPTU CHARLESTON IN THIS LENGTHY REVIEW PROCESS. HIS TIRELESS DEDICATION ENSURED THE SUCCESSFUL STAND UP OF NRMD-KB AND THE COMPLETION OF 29 TRIDENT REFITS, 67 VOYAGE REPAIR PERIODS AND FIVE DIEGO GARCIA REPAIR PERIODS WITH ZERO RADIOLOGICAL OR NUCLEAR NON-NUCLEAR INTERFACE DISCREPANCIES. IN ADDITION, CHIEF DERWOOD EFFECTIVELY TRAINED OVER 60 WORK PACKAGE CONTROL GROUP PERSONNEL ON THE PROCESSING OF TWDS REQUIRING A RADIOLOGICAL OR NUCLEAR NON-NUCLEAR INTERFACE EVALUATION. HE SOUGHT OUT AND EFFECTIVELY TRAINED SIX PERSONNEL AS A BACKUP TO THE NSME THEREBY ADDING CONSIDERABLE FLEXIBILITY OF WORK PACKAGE CONTROL FOR TWD RADIOLOGICAL REVIEWS. MOREOVER, CHIEF DERWOOD ASSISTED IN REINVIGORATING CODE 305'S AUDIT AND SURVEILLANCE PROGRAM BY REDESIGNING AND IMPLEMENTING A NEW USER FRIENDLY METHOD OF DETAILING AND TRACKING THE REVIEWS THEREBY INCREASING THE TECHNICAL ACCURACY OF AWRS AND WAFS AS WELL AS IN PROCESS REVIEWS. PETTY OFFICER CLARENCE GROSSE CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. AS THE COMMUNICATOR, HE EXPERTLY TRAINED OVER 25 COMMAND DUTY OFFICERS IN COMMUNICATIONS, GREATLY INCREASING DUTY SECTION KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITIES. THROUGH HIS RESPONSIBILITIES AS COMMUNICATOR, HE COORDINATED THE TIMELY RELEASE OF OVER 850 NAVAL MESSAGES, DIRECTLY CONRTIBUTING TO SWFPAC'S MISSION AND PERSONNEL READINESS. ADDITIONALLY, AS THE ASSISTANT NUCLEAR WEAPONS SECURITY OFFICER, HE PROVIDED OVERSIGHT AND EXECUTION OF 13 NUCLEAR WEAPONS SECURITY DRILLS. FINALLY, AS THE COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR, HE LED THE COMMAND TO RAISE OVER 9,000 DOLLARS, EXCEEDING THE COMMAND'S GOAL BY AN UNPRECEDENTED 51 PERCENT. PETTY OFFICER DONALD CARLISLE CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HIS EXCEPTIONAL TECHNICAL ABILITIES LED TO HIS SELECTION AND QUALIFICATION AS CSG7, CTF54, AND CTF74 COMMUNICATIONS WATCH OFFICER WHERE HE OVERSAW AROUND THE CLOCK STRATEGIC OPERATIONS. HIS OUTSTANDING OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE AND INITIATIVE WERE PARAMOUNT IN THE SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT OF EIGHT INDIVIDUAL BROADCASTS, PROCESSING 120,000 MESSAGES A YEAR AND PROVIDING SUPPORT TO 26 FORWARD DEPLOYED SUBMARINES, SUSTAINING OPERATIONS AROUND THE GLOBE. IN ADDITION TO HIS DUTIES AS THE ONLY RADIOMAN ON THE MAINTENANCE PLANNING TEAM, HE ALSO VOLUNTEERED TO TAKE THE LEAD ON THE SAIL TRANSFER.
