MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS NUCLEAR TEST EQUIPMENT LEADING PETTY OFFICER AT NUCLEAR REGIONAL MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, KINGS BAY FROM NOVEMBER 2010 TO OCTOBER 2013. PETTY OFFICER LEWIS MANAGED A DIVISION OF NINE SAILORS AND TRAINED OVER TWENTY ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL ON FREEZE SEALS AS THE ONLY QUALIFIED FREEZE SEAL INSTRUCTOR IN KINGS BAY. HIS DILIGENT EFFORTS RESULTED IN THE SUCESSFUL COMPLETION OF TWELVE FREEZE SEAL EVOLUTIONS ON SIX BALLISTIC MISSLE SUBMARINES, RESULTING IN THE TIMELY REPAIR OF FOURTEEN NUCLEAR VALVES. IN ADDITION, HE DEVELOPED AND TESTED A NEW FREEZE SEAL METHOD THAT WILL SAVE HUNDREDS OF HOURS FOR ALL FUTURE FREEZE SEAL EVOLUTIONS. HIS LEADERSHIP AND SUSTAINED SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE GREATLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE SUCCESS OF TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY AND THE RETURN OF FIVE STRATEGIC ASSETS TO THE FLEET. BY HIS NOTEWORTHY ACCOMPLISHMENTS, PERSERVERANCE AND DEVOTION TO DUTY PETTY OFFICER LEWIS REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
