WHILE SERVING AS A JUNIOR MARINE MECHANIC FOR MAINTENANCE COMPANY, 1ST TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT BALLATION, HIS HIGH LEVEL OF PERSONAL DEDICATION AND METICULOUS ATTENTION TO DETAIL ENSURED THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF OVER 500 VEHICLE INSPECTIONS PRIOR TO THE UNIT'S DEPLOYMENT AND ENSURED MISSION READINESS UPON ARRIVAL IN THE AOR. FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS TRANSPORTATION LEADING PETTY OFFICER AND OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND EUROPE AFRICA SOUTHWEST ASIA (EURAFSWA), BAHRAIN SEPTEMBER 2012 TO AUGUST 2014. WITH RELENTLESS ATTENTION TO DETAIL, PETTY OFFICER CORCORAN MANAGED A ROTATING FLEET OF OVER 300 GOVERNMENT OWNED VEHICLES AND OVERSAW A 350 VEHICLE LEASE CONTRACT VALUED AT MORE THAN $6M. HE SUPERVISED 14 MILITARY AND CIVILIAN PERSONNEL IN THE DAILY OPERATION OF THE BASE SUPPORT VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT (BSVE) TEAM AND THE TRANSPORTATION OF OVER 2,000 PASSENGERS AND 2,500 TONS OF EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES SUPPORTING THE ARMY, AIR FORCE, AND NAVY REGION EURAFSWA DURING THE TRANSITION TO SHIEKH ISA AIR BASE ENSURING CONTINUAL MISSION READINESS IN THE FIFTH FLEET AOR. PETTY OFFICER CORCORAN'S PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND STEADFAST DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS PRODUCTION BRANCH, TRANSPORTATION LEADING CHIEF AND OPERATIONS CHIEF FOR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT BAHRAIN, FROM AUGUST 2015 TO APRIL 2017. CHIEF NIELSON SUPERBLY MANAGED A $5.5M OPTAR BUDGET WITH PINPOINT ACCURACY. HE ANALYZED REQUIREMENTS, SYNCHRONIZED SHARED USE, AND REDUCED THE FLEET OF LEASED VEHICLES BY 99 VEHICLES, RESULTING IN A SAVINGS OF $1M ANNUALLY. IN ADDITION, HE SUPERVISED 18 PERSONNEL IN THE COMPLETION OF 3,000 MAINTENANCE REQUESTS AND THE PROCUREMENT OF 350 MISSION CRITICAL PARTS. FURTHER, HE ARRANGED THE TIMELY TRANSPORTATION OF 200 PERSONNEL, 50,000 METRIC TONS OF EQUIPMENT IN SUPPORT OF U.S. FIFTH FLEET FORWARDS OPERATIONS. HIS EFFORTS DIRECTLY SUPPORTED THE WARFIGHTER AND CNO DIRECTIVE OF FORWARD DEPLOYED PRESENCE.
