Sonar Technician Submarine STS
After returning to IOWA, STS3 performed at the highest level of efficiency by making and performing line handling training for all hands to assist in manning IOWA with 21 qualified maneuvering watch line handlers. Also qualified 2 safety officers, and became an assistant salvage coordinator, supporting the startup for WK01 with initial outfit of all consumables, tools, and life saving equipment.
Fleet Liaison at Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport. Performed over 1500 hours as the On-Site Installation Coordinator (OSIC) for the installation and removal of six TEMPALTs, three TEMPMODS, and two RFTEMPALTs. As the OSIC, coordinated with six Navy Commands and four contractors for the on-time installation and removal of mission critical equipment. His leadership and system knowledge ensured three submarines had critical systems installed and ready for use in mission tasking.
As a member of shop 67S at Naval Intermediate Facility, Pacific Northwest, his teamwork and skills were necessary for the safe and timely performance of 19 Trident submarine refits and three dry-docking availabilities.
Initiative! Developed an aggressive training schedule that maximized training topics in a limited amount of time to build crew confidence and teamwork in preparation for the Unit Level Training and Readiness Assessment (ULTRA).
As Assist Section Leader, he supervised 20 personnel in tracking manning, qualifications, training, and managed the watchbill rotation.
Selected by the shop 67s supervisor to operate the complex hydro-lance machining unit and to train all other crew members.
Developed the new hydro-lance machining unit operating procedure which ensured safe operation and reduced the risk of injury or damage to equipment.
As the shop HAZMAT coordinator, she maintained accountability and enforced strict adherence to safety standards for 11 hazardous material items.
As lead technician, he successfully completed a variety of jobs ranging from cable replacement to SUBSAFE EHF replacement resulting in the successful deployment of over a dozen ships. In addition, he was Contolled Material Petty Officer and was on the forefront on revamping the Level I standards of the shop.
Trained/Qualified six Sailors on the complex and demanding task of Tactical Craft Navigator/Radio Operator. Devoted over 900 off-duty hours to ensure all available repair parts and comsumables were ordered, delivered and stored during a voyage repair period allowing sonar division to maintain 100% readiness at all times.
As the Sonar Division Leading Petty Officer, he oversaw the operation of 12 formal courses, 3 sonar trainers, and surpervised 5 experienced sonar technicians. Capitalizing on his experience, he trained over 100 fleet sonar technicians, served as a seasoned trainer evaluator for 8 pre-deployment training events, 10 basic submarine training events, and countless attack center sessions.
The leading Chief Petty Officer for the modernization training team, he logged more than 1,000 hours of training for four major sonar system upgrades on one SSBN, two SSNs, and two SSGNs.
STS1 demonstrated an exceptional level of knowledge and experience while providing the highest quality training for 13 norfolk area submarines which led to his selection as Instructor of the Quarter for 4th Quarter 2011.
Selected as a Senior Instructor for Shark Tank 2012 instructing 22 junior Sailors on qualifications of a Tactical Craft Crewman
Volunteered as comand motorcycle safety petty officer and assisted the ship's safety officer in the ship-wide implementation of motorcycle safety program and assumed responsibility for all motorcycle safety documentation.
