FINALLY, HE STAGED TWO INTENSIVE CARE UNITS AND ONE PACU FOR CRITICAL VENTILATOR DEPENDENT PATIENTS, INCREASING READINESS. PETTY OFFICER ASHFORD CONSISTENTLY DISPLAYED THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM AND DEDICATION TO DUTY THROUGHOUT THE DEPLOYMENT. AS THE SOLE RESPIRATORY TECHNICIAN, PETTY OFFICER ASHFORD EFFICIENTLY MANAGED AND INVENTORIED SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES TO ENSURE PROPER CALIBRATION, SERVICEABILITY, AND STORAGE OF LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT. HIS TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE ENABLED HIM TO QUICKLY IDENTIFY SIX NON USABLE VENTILATORS AND RESTORE THEM TO OPERATIONAL CONDITION, PREVENTING EXPENSIVE CONTRACTOR MAINTENANCE AND ENSURING MAXIMUM MISSION READINESS AT ALL TIMES. IN RESPONSE TO VAL VERDE COUNTY'S 1,991 CUMULATIVE COVID-19 CASES, PETTY OFFICER DOWD AUGMENTED VAL VERDE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER'S RESPIRATORY THERAPY DEPARTMENT, DEVOTING OVER 300 HOURS TO CIVILIAN PATIENT CARE. DURING THIS PERIOD, SHE SUCCESSFULLY RESPONDED TO 14 EMERGENCY CODES, ASSISTED IN 23 INTUBATIONS, EIGHT ENDOTRACHEAL TUBE EXCHANGES, INITIATED 33 SPONTANEOUS BREATHING TRIALS, COMPLETED 37 VENTILATOR TRANSPORTS, DREW 97 ARTERIAL BLOOD GASES, AND ADMINISTERED RESPIRATORY MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN WITH EXPERTISE AND SOUND JUDGEMENT RESULTING IN ZERO DISCREPANCIES. ADDITIONALLY, SHE CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF STANDARD PROCEDURES FOR DONNING PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND DIRECTIONAL FLOW WITHIN DESIGNATED ISOLATION AREAS, RESULTING IN INCREASED AWARENESS AND HEALTH OF THE MEDICAL STAFF BY MINIMIZING COVID-19 EXPOSURE. MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS RESPIRATORY THERAPIST FOR FLEET SURGICAL TEAM THREE, EXPEDITIONARY STRIKE GROUP THREE FROM AUGUST 2021 TO SEPTEMBER 2024. DURING THIS PERIOD, PETTY OFFICER EVANS SUCCESSFULLY LED AND MENTORED SIX SAILORS IN THE CARE OF OVER ONE HUNDRED PATIENTS. WHILE SERVING AS THE TEAM'S SOLE RESPIRATORY THERAPIST, HE PROVIDED OVER 200 HOURS OF RESPIRATORY CARE COVERAGE IN EMERGENT SITUATIONS. IN ADDITION, HE FACILITATED THE INFLUENZA VACCINATION OF 660 SAILORS FOR ELEVEN OPERATIONAL UNITS WHICH LED TO 95 PERCENT MEDICAL READINESS. MOREOVER, HE INSTRUCTED THREE BASIC LIFE SUPPORT AND TWO TACTICAL COMBAT CASUALTY CARE TRAININGS FOR 79 MEMBERS, RESULTING IN 90 PERCENT TRAINING READINESS. FURTHER, HE REESTABLISHED THE COMMAND URINALYSIS PROGRAM AND COORDINATED THE COLLECTION OF 63 URINE SAMPLES WITH ZERO ERRORS, ENSURING 100 PERCENT PROGRAM COMPLIANCE. IN ADDITION, AS THE ACTIVITY MANNING MANAGER, HE OPTIMIZED MANNING, REDUCING BILLET GAPS TO TEN PERCENT. MOREOVER, AS SPONSORSHIP COORDINATOR, HE PROVIDED RELEVANT GUIDANCE AND ENSURED SMOOTH PCS TRANSITIONS FOR 11 MEMBERS. DURING THIS PERIOD, PETTY OFFICER GRUNDEN LED 13 RESPIRATORY THERAPISTS AND CONDUCTED 10,000 BLOOD GAS ANALYSIS AND 4,000 AEROSOL TREATMENTS, APPLIED 112 ADVANCED AIRWAYS, ATTENDED 670 OBSTETRIC DELIVERIES, AND PERFORMED 14 BRONCHOSCOPIES, OF WHICH FIVE RESULTED IN A CANCER DIAGNOSIS. IN ADDITION, AS A CERTIFIED NEONATAL RESUSCITATION INSTRUCTOR, HE CONDUCTED 240 HOURS OF TRAINING FOR EIGHT NRP COURSES FOR 160 STAFF MEMBERS, RESULTING IN INCREASED OPERATIONAL READINESS FOR LABOR AND DELIVERY.
